This Tofu Chocolate-Orange Tart was made a while ago and is an easy no-bake dessert recipe to enjoy with your friends and family.
The other day, I was engaged in a bit of spring cleaning- yes, in autumn. I am a bit behind this year as this year’s spring just flew by in a different environment. The cupboards were rearranged, stuff sorted into separate piles; some to be thrown away, some to be given away to charity. After that, came the turn of my media storage, which is constantly under pressure. As I went about organising the ones to be kept and deleted unnecessary ones, I came upon a few old foodie treasures; some of which I thought I had lost somewhere. As I also had the recipes to some of them, I’ve decided to start posting them here. This is the first one of those.
I have been beaming from ear to ear, since last night, at times grinning a bit too much, like an over excited child. The reason…finding this picture and remembering the successful kitchen experiment. With the very noble aim of saving a block of fresh tofu before it’s expiry date, I had decided to make a very simple, but delish recipe. And what was it- after weighing various options, I had decided to make the following Tofu and Chocolate-Orange Tart, in an oats crust.
Each and every ingredient played it’s part. And the best bit is that it is an absolutely fuss free, and no-bake recipe and needs very little hands on time. And it is also relatively easy on the waist. There…how many more reasons does one need to whip up this yummy dessert !
Tofu-
I used fresh silken tofu for this recipe. It has a soft texture, and is silky and creamy.
The filling-
I did not add any extra sweetness to the filling. You can taste the filling before adding to the crust; if you would like some sweetness, add a little honey. But we liked it as it was.
With the festive season coming up, this easy and tasty dessert can be rustled up to delight and enjoy with your friends and family.
As mentioned earlier, we were left raving about this tart. The crust added a nice bite to the soft filling, and the light orange flavour in the filling came through beautifully too. The kids had to be literally stopped before they carried on devouring it like there was no tomorrow. They also booked their slices for the next day. The other half and myself relished it as well and it did not leave us feeling too heavy. Talking about it has made me crave some too. Even at that time, I regretted not making a bigger one! But, really, doesn’t it give you that extra joy when something rustled up in a hurry comes together beautifully:-) And since we loved it so much, without further ado, let’s head straight back to the kitchen, or more specifically, to the recipe for Tofu Chocolate-Orange Tart.
